I posted this on hairlista.com a little while back. I wanted to post it here for those that don't follow or are not members. What I can add to this, which is not necessarily a mistake per say but a realization is 'making sure to actually follow-up'. I follow a lot of people publicly and secretly on blogs and YouTube. Its so discouraging to have someone do a review or start a challenge and not follow up some time later. I understand adding to your journey other aspects of your life such as diet/exercise, family, travels, shopping, outfits and such but please don't forget those of us who are just following you for your hair care. I speak in LOVE! :)
I've started and restarted this blog post a few times now. I'm trying to put into words the correct way of what I have in my head. The gist of it is...have you learned from the mistakes of others? When someone has a 'setback' do you learn from it? I pray none of use secretly clap when these things happen to our fellow lista...that's really mean and gives your bad ju-ju vibes for your own journey.
Anyways, I am shoulder length and desire to be mid-back to waist. What I've noticed with some people is that once they reach APL or BSL they get REAL lax with their regimen. I was on YouTube and saw listas lose a great deal of hair because they didn't feel like detangling and had not been on their regimen as they knew they should've. I also don't want to NOT enjoy my hair...meaning I don't want to protect it to the point its never out. I hope I never get that busy in life or tired of this journey to the point that my hair is a chore (not their reason, i'm just saying).
With that unfortunate experience and others I've learned to keep my regimen AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE for my lifestyle and make note of the mistakes of others to try to keep any and all setbacks at bay.
Healthy and Happy Journey to Ya!
